Mace Group to project manage major Syrian development

14/10/2009

Mace Group is pleased to announce its successful award of its second major project in Syria, the Taj Halab in Syria's second largest city Aleppo to be developed by Bena Properties, the real estate investment and development arm for Cham Holding.

With a planned completion date in 2013 and occupying 186,000 square-meters overlooking the historical Aleppo Citadel, Taj Halab is the first hospitality, entertainment, and business mixed-use centre in Syria. In addition to the restoration and adaptive reuse of seven historical buildings dating back to 1920, this development comprises two hotels, a shopping mall, an office building, a wide range of food and beverage outlets, a large open plaza for exhibitions and events as well as a family-orientated leisure and entertainment precinct. Taj Halab promises to provide Aleppo residents and tourists with the best retail, hospitality, and entertainment experience in Aleppo in lush green surroundings.

Building on our success with our first project in Syria for Bena Properties, the Yasmeen Rotana Hotel in Damascus, this comes as a further consolidation of Mace's vision for expanding our services in the MENA region. Khalid Madbouli, Mace-Syria General Manager, said that Bena Properties chose to award their second major project to us having demonstrated our ability to deliver the optimal proposal for managing this project that incorporated all the key ingredients needed to successfully manage this landmark project.

Khalid adds: "Mace is now fully established and registered in Syria with an expanding number of managers and support staff and is poised to respond to the growing needs of this market. We are now embarking on a recruitment drive in Syria to complement our expatriate staff in Syria."
