Architects Journal (AJ) has selected Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios' St Mary Magdalene Academy as the best education project of the decade. Delivered by Mace Plus, the project was selected for the accolade by journalist Kieran Long who said: "The best school I saw, among so many to choose from, was Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios' St Mary Magdalene Academy."
Kieran reviewed the building in the September 2009 issue of AJ, saying: "The building is a triumph, an architecture of character, richness, detail and beauty. [There is] ingenious use of the topography and geography of the site that are dignified, civic and very beautiful. St Mary Magdalene Academy is not a prototype. It is specific. It is time all schools were designed with this in mind."
October 2008 saw final completion of the academy which is located in Islington, North London and will accommodate 1,400 students from early years through to sixth form.
