Ropemaker Place triumphs at the BCI Awards

14/10/2010

Last night, 13th October, the British Construction Industry (BCI) awards took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, and Mace won the Major Project category for British Land's Ropemaker Place

Project director Jonathan Foster said: "I'm delighted that Ropemaker Place has won a BCI award; this is well-deserved recognition for the whole project team, and for the client British Land, which took the chance on our integrated service offer of project and construction management, as well as cost consultancy. It's also great to get a shot of the building on the front cover of the awards publication."

The judges' commented: "A tour de force of high-quality design, innovative construction and super energy credentials puts Ropemaker Place at the forefront of urban office building for the future."

The stature of the BCI judging panel and the rigorous selection process make the BCI awards one of the industry's most prestigious events. It is therefore to Mace's credit that a further two projects were short listed, 23 Savile Row in the £3-50m category, and the UK Pavilion for the Shanghai World Expo in the international category. The Ashmolean Museum was also short listed for the Prime Minister's Better Public Building Award.

Ropemaker Place is also the only UK office project to be short listed for the World Architecture Festival Awards, which will be held in Barcelona on 3rd November.
