Second award win for Elizabeth II Court

01/06/2010
Mace project the Elizabeth II Court has won Regional Sustainability Award at the RICS 2010 awards, the second recent award win following the success at the Regional BCO awards.
Home of Hampshire County Council, the tired and dilapidated 1960s office block was transformed into a modern, efficient and highly sustainable working environment. Designed by Bennetts Associates and formerly known as Ashburton Court, the 12,600 square metre building now provides a flexible, open-plan office space and incorporates a 200-seat auditorium, meeting rooms, a cafe and restaurant, all laid out around new landscaped courtyards.
Involved in the project from the start, Mace completed viability and feasibility studies, managed the OJEU selection and appointment of a full project team to deliver the ambitious scheme. Mace provided project management of the construction and IT services and as such were able to successfully hand over the project at the end of last year.
The new building was predicted to produce one of the lowest levels of CO2 emissions of any building in the UK and as such was used by The Carbon Trust as a case study to evaluate reductions in carbon emissions, that can be achieved through refurbishment.
