Sense client Tresham College celebrates the handover of new £38m campus

04/10/2011
The new £38m campus in Corby was completed in August 2011 both on time and on budget. Sense Cost Consultancy was formally appointed by client Tresham College of Further and Higher Education in mid-2009 to support the College’s application as one of 144 colleges seeking for funding from the Learning and Skills Council. After the funding difficulties that year, the College became one of only 14 in England to be granted funding approval.
The college will now begin to move into the new building in Corby and install IT systems and equipment ready to open its doors for learners in September 2011, continuing the College’s 50 year tradition of further education which has and seen many local people train and take their first steps on their career ladders at the site in the town centre since 1961.
The new building has been designed to complement Tresham's long history of providing high quality skills based courses, and to introduce a number of other course areas into the town including sport, business, computing and uniformed public services as well as an increase in its higher education offer.
Paul Fletton, Acting Principal at Tresham said: "The opening of this magnificent new facility marks a very important stage for Tresham College. I am very pleased that the project team has been able to deliver this inspiring new campus on time and on budget! Now it is time for us all to start moving in ready for the new academic year so that our learners can benefit from this wonderful brand new building."
The appropriate use of energy and natural resources was from the outset of the project a key goals of the College and the professional team which resulted in the College becoming one of the first LSC funded schemes to achieve BREEAM excellent.
The design team comprised of project managers Gleeds, architects Bond Bryan, structural engineers Sinclair Knight Merz and services engineers Couch Perry Wilkes. John Webb and Owen Follett worked on the project for Sense. The project was built by BAM Construction.
