Information

Mace is the Foreign and Commonwealth Office's (FCO) strategic partner for delivering major estate projects throughout the world. In Madrid, the FCO selected Mace as the design and build contractor for fitting out the British Embassy's new offices in July 2009.

The former British Embassy building in Madrid was deemed no longer fit for purpose and the Consulate General, comprising the Consular and Visa sections, was located some distance from the main embassy.

The new offices allow the British Embassy and Consulate General to move from their present locations into a single, modernised space in the Torre Espacio tower from which to better promote the United Kingdom.
Mace delivered the project to its intended programme deadline, with the client taking occupation in early July 2009.

Mace Group's Madrid office, Mace Management Services, continues to win work linked to the embassy and is now providing the FCO with a facilities management consultancy service to ensure the correct systems and processes are utilised post-occupation.

The project builds on Mace's ongoing successful relationship with the FCO including the recent completion of the new embassies in Manila, Algiers, Harare and Warsaw.
