Information

Mace Group, in conjunction with joint-venture company Place, has been working with sponsor Wellington College, a top co-educational independent school, to develop the first rural academy in Wiltshire for the Department of Children, Schools and Families (DCSF). Mace has provided the overall project management of these works, with Place delivering education, consultation and HR services on this ongoing project.

The academy will accommodate up to 1,150 pupils including 100 boarding places and will specialise in foreign languages, business and enterprise. A new sixth form will also open for 250 students and will provide a blend of learning opportunities including the International Baccalaureate, A Levels and vocational diplomas.

Mace and Place have joined forces on several academies around the country establishing new governance arrangements, vision and ethos, funding agreements, accommodation requirements, company and charitable registrations, staff recruitment and policy and procedure documents.

Prince Andrew has agreed to become president of The Wellington Academy and will maintain a close interest.
