Mace director Philip Worley addressed a crowd of 50 people at a work session on estates efficiency at this year's Government Property 2010. Attended by key public sector organisations, the conference addressed what is high on the Government's agenda, namely the need to exploit the estate as a corporate asset, the need for a strategic business driven approach to property asset management and the need for a significant improvement in sustainable building and estate performance.

The conference focused on the challenge to ensure the public sector works more collaboratively to deliver the most efficient and effective estate possible, whether through estate reduction and rationalisation, better use of workspace or exploiting opportunities for co-location and clustering or through the procurement of facilities management services.

Work sessions held over the course of the day included a presentation from Mace operations director Phillip Worley entitled, "The Sustainable Estate: seeking (and getting) more for less", which explored the drive for efficiency and effectiveness in estates, from space utilisation to estate rationalisation.
