The Doctors Laboratory is a state of the art pathology laboratory established as a joint venture as the largest of its kind in the UK. The client called on Macro to plan and mobilise facilities management services from before the building's re-fit was even completed.

Following a major renovation of the property, the WSL approached Macro to support the mobilisation of the facilities management services over a short timescale. In an integrated offer from Mace Group, Como had completed the fit-out and needed to hand over the building to a facilities management team.

Macro undertook the mobilisation and continued operation of the facilities management services for this critical scientific facility in 2003. A mobilisation plan was developed and tendering for the service delivery commenced. A facilities manager was appointed quickly, transferring from the central team.

Macro produced a budget for WSL and reported monthly on performance. Our tried and tested processes have been adopted by the client, providing clear management information and transparency.

The premises are put through a rigorous National Health Service audit on a regular basis and have embraced this process and a contributor to continuous improvement.

The Doctors Laboratory has taken another building since the beginning of the contract and Macro now have two facilities managers in place. The contract has been extended twice. Macro truly enable the client to focus on their core business which is highly technical and complex.
