Heathrow Airport Terminal 5: aviation sector team and Mlogic land key switch on time

08/08/2008

Mace has successfully completed the first major flight facilities switch since Terminal 5 opened in March.

The Mace aviation team completed the first stage of its Terminal 1 departures and arrivals project by reconfiguring check-in and baggage handling systems on the departures floor to accommodate 13 daily arrivals and departures moved from Terminal 3 to new facilities created by the team for client, BAA.

The aviation team, supported by key logistics supplier MLogic was able to achieve BAA's key milestone to switch desks and 1,500 staff so that the first flight to Chicago departed on schedule at 07:45 on the 4th of July. Despite the complex rearrangement of check-in facilities, lounges and baggage systems in Terminal 1, the transition was so successful that BAA's operations team achieved 100% of its passenger processing KPIs within 5 minutes.

Mace Group received very positive comments from BAA project director, Julian Foster and BAA project leader David Buisson upon reaching the deadlines set.
